Random number generator

GeneratorsNo. 53 / 84

Pick random numbers in any range, with optional no-repeats and decimals. Uses your browser's cryptographic random source.

most-used utilities

Pick a winner

Range 1 to the number of entries, one number, no repeats needed.

Roll some dice

Range 1 to 6, as many numbers as dice you are rolling.

Sample without duplicates

Turn on no repeats and keep the count below the size of the range.

pro tips

For a raffle, use no repeats and a range that matches your ticket numbers. Drawing the same ticket twice is a bad look.

Decimals are generated across the whole range, not rounded to the nearest integer, so 1.0 to 2.0 really can produce 1.73.

If you need a random order rather than random values, generate one number per item and sort the items by it.

what it does

Set a minimum and a maximum, choose how many numbers you need, and the page picks them. Whole numbers by default, decimals if you ask, and an option to avoid repeats when you are drawing several values from a small range.

The randomness comes from crypto.getRandomValues, the same browser API used for keys and tokens, not from Math.random. That matters for anything involving money, prizes or fairness: the numbers are not seeded by the clock and there is no predictable sequence to game.

A few practical cases: picking a winner from a numbered list, rolling dice for a board game, generating test data, or choosing a sample without duplicates. If you need several unique values, turn on no repeats — the widget will refuse to draw more numbers than the range can hold.

Results appear as a list you can copy in one click. Sorting is optional; it does not change the randomness, it just makes the output easier to read when you are checking a set.

quick answers

Is this really random?

It uses the browser's cryptographic random generator, which is designed to be unpredictable. No software random is truly physical randomness, but this is the strong version, not Math.random.

Can I get the same number twice?

Yes, unless you enable no repeats. With repeats on, each draw is independent, so duplicates are normal.

Why can't I draw more unique numbers than the range?

Because there are not that many distinct values. If the range is 1–10, ten unique numbers is the maximum.
