most-used utilities

Notice period

From the resignation email to the last day, count the actual days left and the weekdays inside them.

Trip length

Two dates, one suitcase, and the number of days the cat will be alone.

Deadline buffer

Check how many weekdays remain before a filing date, with weekends excluded from the panic.

pro tips

For a hotel or rental car, count nights rather than days: subtract check-in from check-out and the result is usually the number on the invoice.

A Friday-to-Monday trip is three days apart but only one business day. Decide which number the request actually wants before replying.

When a contract says ten working days, count weekdays from the day after the notice and keep a holiday list nearby. The fine print always has one.

what it does

Two dates go in and the gap comes out: total days, the same span in weeks plus leftover days, and an inclusive count that adds both ends. The answer updates as soon as either date changes, so there is no button to forget.

The count leaves out the start date and includes the end date, which is the usual way to measure elapsed time. A same-day range is zero days, and a reversed range is quietly put back in order with a note, because the subtraction does not care who typed first.

Tick the business days box to count Monday through Friday only. The widget also shows the weekend total, which is handy when a delivery window claims five working days and you suspect it means something closer to seven.

Public holidays are not in the weekday count, since no calendar agrees on them. Subtract those by hand if a contract depends on the number. For anything else, the total and inclusive figures cover deadlines, trips, notice periods and the long wait before a sequel.

quick answers

Does the count include the first date?

No. The total is elapsed time, so the start date is day zero and the end date is the final day. The both-ends stat adds one when you need the inclusive count.

What counts as a business day?

Monday through Friday. Public holidays are not included because they vary by country and sometimes by city, so the widget leaves that subtraction to you.

What happens if I enter the dates backwards?

The widget sorts them and shows the positive difference, with a short note that it swapped the sides. The number is the same either way.
