most-used utilities
A chaptered report
Add the cover, the chapters and the appendix in order, then merge.
Bank statements
Drop one statement per month and merge them into a single year file.
A portfolio
Combine the individual project PDFs into one document to send.
pro tips
Put the cover first and the appendix last; the list is the final order, not the order you clicked the files.
If a PDF is password-protected, unlock it first; merge cannot open encrypted files.
Very large PDFs use a lot of memory. For hundreds of pages, merge in smaller groups.
what it does
Select two or more PDFs, put them in the order you want, and merge them into a single document. The page count is preserved, the order is the list order, and the result downloads immediately.
It is the fix for a report split across chapters, a contract with a separate signature page, bank statements from different months, or a portfolio that arrived as six files. Reorder the list before merging; the file order is the page order.
Three ten-page PDFs become one thirty-page PDF. The pages keep their original size and content; nothing is re-rendered, so text stays text and images keep their quality. Password-protected files are the exception and produce a clear error.
The merge happens locally with pdf-lib. The files are read into memory, the pages are copied into a new document, and the result is saved as a blob. Nothing is uploaded and no account is involved.
quick answers
Is the quality reduced when merging?
No. The pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text and images keep their original quality.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. The tool needs to open each file, and encrypted PDFs are rejected with an explanatory error.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The merge runs in your browser with pdf-lib, and the files never leave your device.
