most-used utilities
Chapters
Split at the chapter boundaries with custom ranges.
Scanned batches
Split every 10 pages for a document that arrived as one long scan.
One page out
Use a single range like 7-7 to isolate one page in its own PDF.
pro tips
Ranges are one-based and inclusive: 1-3 means pages one, two and three.
Use custom ranges for chapters; use every-N for scans and bulk documents.
Check the page count shown after selecting the file before choosing ranges.
what it does
Choose a PDF and split it in one of two ways: every N pages, or custom page ranges. Each part becomes its own PDF, and the set downloads as a ZIP.
Use every-N when the document has a fixed rhythm, like a 120-page scan that should become twelve ten-page files. Use custom ranges when the structure is editorial: chapters 1 to 3, the appendix, the signed page.
A 30-page PDF split every 10 pages produces three files of 10 pages each. The same file split at 1-12 and 13-30 produces two files with the ranges you asked for. The original is untouched.
The split runs locally with pdf-lib and the ZIP is built with JSZip. The file is read into memory, pages are copied into new documents, and nothing is uploaded.
quick answers
Does splitting keep the original quality?
Yes. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text and images are unchanged.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not yet. Encrypted files are rejected with a clear message.
Why do I get a ZIP instead of several downloads?
Browsers often block multiple automatic downloads. The ZIP keeps all the parts in one file and one click.
